What makes him different from other Doctors? What do you love most about him? What are his most interesting flaws? How does he relate to his companions? How do others relate to him?
Feel free to reblog and discuss at length (or briefly)! I’m have a lot of thoughts on this matter too, but I’m very curious to see what other people think and how you would put it.
Would be lovely if you also mention which version of him you’re familiar with, seeing as Eight is very different across TVM/audios/comics/novels. And if you’re familiar with more than one medium, what are the differences between the different Eights?
Inquiring minds need to know.
I’ve actually ONLY seen the TV movie (we are not counting the aborted attempt at listening to Zagreus without listening to any other audios… no) so my experience of Eight is, some would argue, the “worst” one could possibly have.
Too bad I love him.
He’s one of the most cloud-cuckoolanderish Doctors, spacey (in every sense of the word) and inoffensive, except when the occasion calls for him to be extremely on point. He’s comfortably vulnerable, a very humanlike Doctor, but seems to have matured past the intense need to PROVE himself that the Fifth Doctor has. That might be why I prefer him - he’s far less sarcastic and wry. Even his sassier jokes seem to allow Grace to laugh along with him, and solidifies their actions as a team.
He’s goofy at times, and whimsical, but also capable of intense sincerity. He stepped out of the wreckage of that script with an intact character and a fairly well-retained sense of the Doctors who came before.
